  1.                           L.A. STRIPPERS
  2.  
  3. To install "L.A. Strippers" viewing software, log to your CD-ROM 
  4. drive and type: "INSTALL" and press Enter.  For a successful install
  5. you will need about .5 Megabytes of available space on your "C:" Drive.
  6.  
  7. Upon initiating the "INSTALL" program as indicated above, an
  8. Installation menu will will appear:
  9.  
  10.         To continue the install process choose option 1. by typing:
  11.         "1" and pressing Enter.
  12.  
  13.         To read the README file before proceeding with the install
  14.         process, select "2" from the menu and press Enter.
  15.  
  16.         To exit back to DOS select "3" from the menu and press Enter.
  17.  
  18. If your system is configured correctly, and you have gone through the
  19. installation process, you can begin enjoying "LA Strippers". Simply
  20. log to your "C:" drive,
  21.  
  22.  type: "CD\STRIPPER" and press Enter then
  23.  type: "GO" and press Enter.
  24.  
  25. If "L.A. Strippers" does not load properly then you will need to
  26. review the following information regarding your system configuration.
  27.  
  28. System Requirements:
  29.  
  30. To run "L.A. Strippers" you need to have:
  31.  
  32. 1. Your Microsoft Mouse driver loaded,
  33. 2. Your system configured for 2 megabytes of expanded memory,
  34. 3. At least 580 K-Bytes of Conventional memory available.
  35.  
  36. Instructions for adjusting your system to meet these requirements
  37. follow:
  38.  
  39. Setting up Expanded Memory:
  40.  
  41. To set up your system environment with expanded memory, you must edit
  42. the "CONFIG.SYS" file in your root directory ("C:\") to include the
  43. following lines:
  44.         
  45.         DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  46.         DOS=HIGH
  47.         DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 2048 RAM FRAME=E000
  48.  
  49.  
  50. Maximizing Conventional Memory
  51.  
  52. If "LA Strippers" still does not load, check your available 
  53. conventional (low) memory.
  54.  
  55. You can do this by typing: MEM and pressing Enter.  Check to make 
  56. sure that you have at least 580 Kbytes of free memory in the low 
  57. memory area.
  58.  
  59. If you do not have enough free memory available, you may be able 
  60. to adjust your system configuration by changing all "Device=..." 
  61. statements in your config.sys file to "DeviceHigh=...".  In your 
  62. AUTOEXEC.BAT file you can precede commands with the "LoadHigh " 
  63. statement.  Both of these actions will load drivers and programs 
  64. into high (Extended) memory thereby freeing up conventional memory.
  65.  
  66. An alternative is to create a "Boot Disk".  This is done by
  67. formatting a system disk. To do this place a blank disk in the
  68. "A:" drive and type: FORMAT A:/S
  69.  
  70. Then you can make a "skeleton" config.sys file by setting up
  71. expanded memory (EMM386.EXE, see above), and loading high the drivers
  72. for your CD-ROM, Sound Card, etc.  Leave any unecessary commands out
  73. of your config.sys and autoexec.bat.
  74.  
  75. Reboot your system with the newly created system in drive "A:"
  76. Now you can log to the "C:" drive and execute "LA Strippers".
  77.  
  78.  
  79. MOUSE
  80.  
  81. If your "La Strippers" Video Sequences appear to be loading properly and
  82. suddenly revert back to DOS or your mouse pointer doesn't work, you need to
  83. install your MicroSoft Mouse driver.
  84.  
  85. The mouse driver installation for Windows does not necessarily apply to
  86. the DOS environment.  To install your mouse driver, look for a file on
  87. your system called mouse.com or mouse.exe.  Change to the directory
  88. which contains that file and execute it by typing "MOUSE" and pressing
  89. the enter key.
  90.  
  91. To verify that your mouse driver loaded properly, look for the message:
  92. "Mouse Driver Loaded".
  93.  
  94.  
  95. VIDEO CARDS
  96.  
  97. Some conventional VGA/SVGA video cards require a Vesa driver to run 
  98. correctly. Included on your CD-ROM is a directory called "DRIVERS" 
  99. which contains several drivers for various popular video boards.  
  100. To use these drivers you must do the following:
  101.  
  102.  1. Determine the chipset of your video card.  You may refer to
  103.     your video card manual or you may have to physically inspect
  104.     the card for this information.  You will need this information
  105.     to choose the appropriate driver.
  106.         
  107.  2. UNZIP (Decompress) the appropriate driver by
  108.         
  109.     A. Changing into the DRIVERS directory on your CD-ROM drive.
  110.        This is done by logging to your CD-ROM drive and typing:                               
  111.                    
  112.        "CD\DRIVERS"
  113.                 
  114.     B. As an example assume that you have determined that your
  115.        video card has a TSENG LABS Chipset.  You would then Type: 
  116.                    
  117.       "UNZIP TSENGVSA.ZIP C:\STRIPPER" and press Enter.
  118.         
  119.  3.  Apply the driver by following the instructions included with 
  120.      it, or by simply typing in the file name preceding the COM 
  121.      or EXE extention.
  122.  
  123.  4.  After you have loaded the driver, run "LA Strippers" as indicated
  124.      above.
  125.  
  126. An indication that your system may need a vesa driver is when you have
  127. bright CGA colors splashing your screen, or when hi-res mode is playing
  128. in lo-res.
  129.  
  130. Local Bus Video Cards
  131.  
  132. Local Bus video cards are quickly becoming common as they 
  133. significantly boost performance for Windows users.  However these 
  134. cards sometimes cause memory conflict errors when used with DOS 
  135. Programs.
  136.  
  137. The install program places a special driver on your system to
  138. accomodate most Local Bus Video Cards. This driver is
  139. designed to help overcome the memory conflict problem.
  140.  
  141. Performance on a local bus card may be slower as the special driver 
  142. is actively manipulating memory while playing your video sequences.
  143. If your video performance is extremely choppy, or if you have a Cirrus
  144. Logic VESA card, please indicate this on your registration card so
  145. that we may send you any updated drivers that might improve performance.
  146.  
  147.  
  148. SOUND
  149.  
  150. If you have a sound card which is compatible with Sound Blaster or
  151. Pro-Audio Spectrum, and if your sound card is correctly installed,
  152. you should have no problems with sound.
  153.  
  154. The installation program automatically configures for your sound
  155. card.
  156.  
  157. If you are getting no sound at all, check to make sure that the 
  158. software installation for your sound card matches the hardware 
  159. settings on your sound card.  Also check to be sure that your 
  160. config.sys or autoexec.bat file contains the appropriate sound 
  161. card drivers.
  162.  
  163. If you are getting high-pitched noise, or heavy static, or frequent 
  164. loss of sound, chances are that you have an address or interrupt 
  165. conflict problem.  
  166.  
  167. Recommended sound card settings are: 
  168.  
  169. DMA Channel 1, Interrupt 7, Addr. 220.
  170. or
  171. DMA Channel 3, Interrupt 7, Addr. 220.
  172.  
  173. If you are getting sound but get periodic jerkiness or skips, 
  174. the likelyhood is that your CD-ROM drive or its interface, or 
  175. your PC CPU is too slow to adequately process the information 
  176. quickly enough to allow for smooth operation.  A double spin 
  177. CD-ROM drive is recommended and is manufactured by Toshiba, 
  178. Texel, Nec, Panasonic, Philips, and others.  If your system has
  179. a sustained throughput of at least 150 kilobytes per second, 
  180. an average access time of less then 350 milliseconds, and a 
  181. 64K transfer buffer, you should be able to enjoy the full 
  182. quality of performance of "LA STRIPPERS".
